During manufacturing of steel pipe and tube, the electric resistance welding process extrudes a small amount of metal (weld flash) on both the inside (ID) and outside (OD) of the tube. The outside flash is always removed from the OD of the tube with a cutting tool which keeps the surface smooth and uniform. We also have the ability to remove the inside flash at all our locations when needed for telescoping applications or when a mandrel is inserted in the ID for punching, drilling or bending. This allows close tolerances for telescoping applications and an easier fit for mandrels.
There is an additional cost for flash removal process and minimum quantities are needed for set-up. Contact your Sales Representative for details.
